With over 35 years of dedication to the creative sector, Mark is a passionate educator and visual artist who has cultivated a rich tapestry of experiences that spans exhibitions, prop-making for film and television, public art commissions, educational workshops, and street art performances as part of the artistic duo 'haywoodhix.'
For the last five years, Mark has focused his efforts on teaching in a specialist school for autism, where he has honed his skills in creating inclusive and engaging learning experiences tailored to diverse student needs.
In line with his commitment to education and creativity, this website is undergoing a comprehensive redesign aimed at providing educators with valuable resources, sharing teaching experiences, and highlighting effective practices. The new site will feature a dedicated curriculum section, complete with lesson plans and downloadable materials, as well as a portfolio section showcasing his artistic practice and new projects.
Mark’s determination is deeply rooted in his own experiences growing up in the 70s and 80s, a time when being dyslexic was often misunderstood. His personal journey has fuelled his desire to challenge the education system and transform how students perceive themselves. Understanding first-hand the impact that the arts can have on self-confidence and belief, Mark’s mission is clear: to harness the transformative power of art and education, helping students reach their full potential, achieve their ambitions, and build self-belief in an ever-evolving world.
Throughout 2025, visitors can anticipate a complete overhaul of the website to better serve this mission.
