Sunrise at Sea Palling -
Work in progress : a digital film of a sunrise over the sea where the artist regularly surfs on ‘dawn patrols’.
The film will be projected inside a large glass dome, which resembles an enormous snow globe. The glass refracts and distorts the sun, giving the impression that you are viewing a cosmic spectacle from outside the ‘goldfish bowl’. There film will also be accompanied with the gentle, ambient sounds of the sea.
This gallery shows the preliminary tests of the projection effects using a still image mocked up in the studio.
The pedestal and glass globe will reference the local sea defence architecture.
The Glass dome was originally used as a mercury switch and comes from disused power station in reading, approx. 50cm diameter.
